NAIROBI NATIONAL PARK - 4 Hours

One of Kenya's original National Parks established in 1946, it features 46 sq. miles of pristine savannah and yet is only six miles from the city centre. Large populations of Giraffe, Wildebeest, Eland and Gazelle dominate the plains. Of the Big Five only the Elephant has not been spotted. Prides of Lions appear at the entrance to Mbagathi Gorge.

This park, so convenient to the business traveller also offers the spectacle of a Nairobi silhouette on the near horizon. Bounded by the Athi River to the south with its Hippo Pools, here there are two animal orphanages, including Daphne Sheldricks' Home for Orphaned Elephants and Rhinos.

Before lunch we arrive at Lake Nakuru, here is the most awesome bird spectacle in the world - a million greater and lesser Flamingo transform the shores of the lake to that of a delicate pink due.

The National Park here is home to many mammals, including Leopard, Lion and Rhino. Lunch is taken at one of the lakes lodges. After lunch we head back for Nairobi via Lake Naivasha. On and around this lake in the Great Rift Valley are upwards of six hundred species of birds, we have afternoon tea on the shores of this beautiful lake before returning to Nairobi.
